Dining sets is one outdoor fixture that should not be left out when furnishing the outside area of your house. They serve the purpose of holding your meals during family dinners or lunches and snacks during parties. This patio furnishing comes in various shapes, sizes and makes. These patio sets are comprised of a table and chairs, which could accommodate a group as small as four persons to a crowd of a dozen persons. They could be made from wood, aluminum, wicker and plastic or acrylic. The material from where they are made will determine their durability against severe weather condition. These patio sets have evolved from the traditional designs to the more contemporary ones found in the market today. Traditionally, these dining sets are made from wood or wicker formed in a circular or oblong shape. Wood or wicker cannot withstand the outside environment thus they need to be replaced seasonally or every couple of years.
Dining indoors is good, but what is better is al fresco dining. Outdoor dining could only be done so seasonally unless you live in the south, but this rare occasion allows one to both bask in the relaxing garden environment while relishing the company of your family and friends. Having the perfect patio dining set would greatly contribute to that occasional family lunch or dinner.
Recently, the furniture world has embraced the form of the elegant high dining table, which has in turn influenced many a patio dining set. Also known as gathering height and balcony tables, these are raised about half a foot higher than typical tables, or on average 36" high. Chair seats typically measure in at 26 inches, which means more leg room than normal height tables. This unique realm is in between dining table and bar height, so it's not uncomfortably high, but noticeably so. The chairs of a high dining set are specifically designed for convenience, and are supposedly easier to get into and out of than are barstools. There are even some chairs which swivel to accommodate. The resulting feeling can either be more formal than a normal table, or more akin to bar-side dining, depending on the surrounding ambience of the décor and the occasion itself. The high patio dining set also gives a more modern look, but is useful in certain spots where a good view is to be enjoyed, as over a tall fence or wall. It would not however be ideal in areas that are already adequately elevated, like roof decks and could give users the adverse effect of feeling too high up. For indoors, balcony tables look great in cathedral ceiling and loft spaces.
PVC is another popular material which has grown in ratings over the last couple of years. PVC is really hard plastic, but it's truly durable. And with the many colors that it is coated nowadays, you can really make the patio yours. You can give it any style you want. For example I know a family which uses a mix of wooden and PVC furniture. While most of it is made of hardwood, the actual chairs are made of PVC. They swear that the chairs are very comfortable and they wouldn't change them for anything in the world.
